Black birds handmade ceramic pottery mug, hand carved garden design on speckled stoneware clay- 12 oz capacity

This handmade, one of a kind ceramic mug was thrown on the wheel, handle attached, then painted with black underglaze on it's greenware stage. This allows it to then be carved with the design, showing the original clay color through the black. After it's first bisque firing it's then dipped in a glossy clear glaze and fired again.

The design is carved freehand, by me, without the use of any stencil or template. Each ceramic piece is carefully crafted in my home studio, using the pottery wheel and various hand tools. Firing is done in a community studio and all glazes used are food safe. A focus has been placed on how each piece can be used, from smooth bases to ergonomic, comfortable handles.

Designed for daily use, each piece is dishwasher safe, however, to maintain their beauty and longevity, hand washing is recommended. Microwave and oven use is not recommended as the piece can overheat and become too hot to handle. I've tried my best to capture the true colors of each piece, but as screens can vary, some differences can happen. Measurements can vary slightly from what's listed where multiple pieces were made in a production run. I've done my best to maintain consistency but these are handmade. Where there are extreme differences, separate listings will be created. All shipping prices quoted include tracking if leaving Canada which raises the cost.
